PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a drying time according to the quantity of clothes in a spinning tub irrelevant to the presence/absence of a washing process, to reduce the uneven drying in completing the drying, and to reduce creases of the clothes in a washing and drying machine having a process for drying the clothes by blowing a hot air in the spinning tub having a rotation central shaft in the vertical direction and integrally performing from the washing to the drying. SOLUTION: The spinning tub 4 having the rotation central shaft in the vertical direction is rotatably supported in an outer tank 3 elastically suspended in a casing 1, a rotary blade 5 is rotatably provided in the inside bottom part of the spinning tub 4, the spinning tub 4 or the rotary blade 5 is driven by a motor 9, the circulating air heated by a heater 14 is sent to the spinning tub 4 inside by a drying blower 12, and a control means 25 controls operations of the motor 9, the drying blower 12, and the heater 14 and controls the washing stroke and the drying stroke. When performing the drying process alone, the control means 25 detects the quantity of the fabric in spinning tub 4 and sets the drying time according to the quantity of the fabric.
