PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a walking type self-traveling working machine capable of easily adjusting a traveling speed for traveling in an easy posture. SOLUTION: This walking type self-traveling working machine 10 (a lawn mower) installing driving wheels 13, a blade for lawn mowing 14, an engine 15 for driving these and a continuously variable transmission 30 installed between the engine and the driving wheels on a body 11, extends an operating handle 50 backward from the body and installs an operation switching lever 63 for connecting and cutting the driving force from the engine to the cutting blade, a traveling change lever 91 changing the driving wheels from stopping to high speed running by operating the continuously variable transmission and a rotary knob 123 adjusting effect of the traveling change lever to the continuously variable transmission. The operation switching lever and the traveling change lever are independently mounted on the handle close to a grip part 52. The rotary knob is mounted on the side part of the handle close to the traveling change lever.
