METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SYNCHRONIZING FRAMES IN DISCRETE MULTITONE SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for synchronizing frames in a discrete multitone system are provided to improve the accuracy of frame synchronization by using the identity of a cycle prefix and w number of sample data in an end portion of a DMT(Discrete MultiTone) signal to synchronize frames. CONSTITUTION: A data conversion unit(11) converts analog DMT block data transmitted from a transmitting unit from analog into digital to transmit a digital signal. A first storing unit(131) stores a first DMT block data comprised of (2N+W) number of samples transmitted from the data conversion unit(11). A second storing unit(132) stores a second DMT block data comprised of (2N+W) number of samples, which is delayed by 2N number of samples compared to a first sample of the first DMT block data. A calculating unit(14) calculates (2N+W) number of differences between the first and second DMT block data. A detecting unit(15) detects a starting point of a received DMT signal based on the (2N+W) number of differences calculated in the calculating unit(14). A serial-to-parallel converting unit(17) converts the DMT signal from serial into parallel at the detected starting point. A demodulation unit(18) demodulates a DMT signal transmitted from the serial-to-parallel converting unit(17).
