摘要 PURPOSE: A section structure for increasing horizontal stiffness of a side sill of a vehicle is provided to improve front or side collision performance of a side sill by increasing the horizontal stiffness and to improve the maintenance performance when the lower end of the side is damaged. CONSTITUTION: A section structure for increasing horizontal stiffness of a side sill of a vehicle comprises an external side panel(28) having stepped bent-up units, an external side sill panel(26), an external side sill support plate(24), and an external side sill garnish(30). An end of the external side panel is vertically(Z) fixed to the joining part of an internal side sill panel(20) and an internal side panel(22), and the other end is horizontally(Y) fixed to the outermost side sill unit. An end of the side sill panel is horizontally coupled to the outermost side sill unit and the other end is vertically fixed to the joining part of the internal side sill panel and the internal side panel. The bent-up surface of the external side sill support plate is horizontally fixed to the middle part of the internal side panel by spot welding, and the other end is fixed to the outside jointing part of the side sill unit. An end of the external side sill garnish is horizontally fixed to the outside jointing part of the side sill unit, and the other end is vertically fixed to the lower part of the external side sill panel. Therefore, the horizontal stiffness of the side sill is increased while keeping the vertical stiffness.
