<p>PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity in the detection of a metallic article by dispos ing a metal detecting means under a container body and a conductive member in the vicinity of a cover body. CONSTITUTION:A conductive member 11 is disposed above the body 2 of a food container 1 carried on a belt conveyor 5 in the vicinity of the cover body 8 thereof and a metal detecting means 6 is disposed under the body 2. With such structure, the means 6 is affected constantly by the member 11 which has a marked effect on the means 6 as compared with the conductive cover body 8 when the container 1 passes through the means 6. Consequently, the sensitivity for detecting a metallic article 3 within the body 2 is enhanced significantly as compared with the case provided with no conductive member 11 and thereby a smaller metallic article can be detected. Since the detection sensitivity is enhanced when the member 11 is close to the cover body 8, a freely variable distance L is preferably set between the conveyor 5 and the member 11.</p> |
