SUBSTANCE: heater designed for thermal shrinkage of polymeric insulating materials (sleeves, films, tapes) used for repairing cable insulation sheaths has its chamber made in the form of thick-wall steel tube heated by eddy currents built up by solenoid-type inductor which imparts heat to thermally shrinking materials covering damaged areas of cable insulation; in the process cable is passed through chamber and vertically adjusted supports mounted at inlet and outlet of the latter ensure cable alignment within tube and uniform heating of thermally shrinking insulating materials on cable surface. EFFECT: enhanced quality of repairs, reduced cost of heat- carrying agent, improved labor conditions. 2 dwg
