PURPOSE: A system for detecting water leakage and damaged position of water cut sheet and repair and maintenance method is provided to prevent environmental contamination by rapidly detecting and repairing the damaged portion of water cut sheet. CONSTITUTION: A system comprises a single liner(8) or a double liner arranged onto a water cut layer constructed on the ground of a waste disposal area; a constant current feed unit(1); a first feeder electrode(2) and a second feeder electrode for feeding the current supplied from the constant current feed unit, to the water cut sheet and a protection layer(23) of the waste disposal area; sensors(6) interposed between the single liner and the double liner, and which are operated by the current supplied from the constant current feed unit and generate electric potentials in response to the water leaking through the damaged portion of the single liner or the double liner; a control box(4) connected to sensors through a cable(5), and which checks electric potentials of sensors; and a host computer(21) having an Internet scripter and a user graphic interface for displaying the damaged position of the water cut sheet of the water disposal area. An automatic alarm system operates immediately upon occurrence of damage to the water cut sheet or layer, so as to generate an alarm to the host computer and a terminal of an administrator. The detected data is transmitted, in a real time basis, to the host computer and stored therein.
