PURPOSE: An oil separating device prevents backflow of the oil stored in an oil pan by an intake negative pressure while recovering oil from a head cover of a cylinder head to the oil pan. CONSTITUTION: An oil separating device comprises an oil separator(10) receiving gas state oil from a cylinder head through a recovering pipe(12). An oil pan is connected to the oil separator(10) through a supply pipe(14). The gas state oil is supplied to an intake system from the oil separator(10) through a negative pressure pipe(14'). A backflow preventing device(16) is installed in the supply pipe(14) to cut off the supply pipe(14) selectively by the operation area of the engine, thereby preventing application of the intake air negative pressure to the oil pan.
