PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal which is provided with a mail receiving function to show a mail to a user without user's mail perusing operation by displaying the mail on an LCD when being opened by the user at receiving the mail in the close state and is provided with a speech (communication) function to enter into the speech state with a communication destination without user's speech operation when being opened by the user at call (communication) incoming in the close state. SOLUTION: When the portable terminal is switched to the open state after receiving the mail in the close state, the mail is displayed on a display part. When the portable terminal is switched to the pen state in the middle of incoming of real time communication data in the close state, the portable terminal is switched to the state in which it can communicate with the communication destination.
