PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a terminal by making an arc generate at a part different from the terminal connecting a power source and an electric load, when cutting the electric load from the power source. SOLUTION: An input terminal 2 to be connected to a battery 100 and an output terminal 9 to be connected to an electric load are mounted on a fixing member 11, and a first current path 4 having connection terminals 1, 8, to be connected to the terminals 2, 9, is mounted to a movable member 12 in a state of being mounted on the fixed member 11. Apart from the first current path 4, a second current path 15 for connecting the terminal 2 and the terminal 9 are mounted to the fixed member 11, and contact points 30, 31 for terminal protection are formed at the middle part of the second current path. The protection device is equipped with a conduction switching member 13 which keeps the path 15 in non-conductive state while mounted, and makes the path 15 turn into conductive state before the terminals 2, 9 are separated from the terminals 1, 8, and an operation part 48 which keeps the contact points 30, 31 in a state of touching each other while mounted, and makes the contact points 30, 31 separate after the path 15 is switched from non-conductive state to conductive state by the conduction switching member 13.
