PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify input of characters such as alphameric characters. SOLUTION: After the completion of one bar code reading, a mode is automatically switched to a character input mode. In the character input mode, a domain for indicating the input character candidates is provided (S11) on the image plane of an indication part. When either a left and a right trigger key provided on a side surface of a body is operated one (S12: Y), the input character candidates are scrolled in a direction corresponding to the trigger key (S14 to S16). When the left trigger key is operated continuously twice (S13, S17: Y), a reversed character in the input character candidate indication domain is established (S18). When the right trigger key is operated continuously twice (S17: N), the character input mode is closed (S19) to return a normal reading mode. |
