PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the video signal processing circuit of a matrix type display device capable of enhancing the reproducibility of black even when values of zero or near zero are continuous as the gradation of a video signal. SOLUTION: In this video signal processing circuit, a circuit for detecting continuity of data near zero 16 detects the gradation of the dot data of the video signal as a value equal to or smaller than a predetermined value near zero and being continuous in dots equal to or larger than a predetermined number of dots being at least two dots. When the gradation equal to or smaller than the predetermined value near zero and being continuous in dots equal to or larger than the predetermined number of dots is detected by the circuit for detecting continuity of data near zero 16, entire dither coefficients to be added to respective dot data whose values are equal to or smaller than the value near zero and whose continuity are within the determined continuous dots are made to be zero.
