PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature detecting device for fixing device capable of accurately detecting the temperature of a thermal fixing member over a long term without increasing the number of parts nor lowering the detecting accuracy. SOLUTION: The fixing device equipped with the thermal fixing member having a heat generating layer performs fixation by making the heat generating layer of the thermal fixing member directly generate heat. In the device, the photodetector part of an infrared temperature sensor is separately disposed to be opposed to an aperture part provided at the end in the shaft direction of the thermal fixing member, and infrared rays radiated from the inner surface of the thermal fixing member received by the infrared temperature sensor, thereby, the temperature of the thermal fixing member is detected.
