Device for measuring the instantaneous rotation speed of a turbine (6) housed in the body (3) of a paint sprayer (2). A disk (10) is mounted on the rear of the turbine so that it interacts with the front end (11a) of a fiber optic wave-guide (11) which stops at the rear (7) of the paint sprayer. Transmitting and receiving opto-electronic means (12) are mounted on the end of the robot arm on the mounting plane (9) of the paint sprayer. The means convert a reflected optical signal into an electrical signal that is carried by an electric cable (22) in the robot arm (8).
