PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the life of a photoreceptor by shortening the stop process time in an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus in which the application of a transfer bias voltage is stopped on the basis of image size, before the surface of a photoreceptor (1) facing a charging means (2) in the case of stopping the bias voltage application to the charging means reaches the position of a transfer means (4), the bias voltage application to the transfer means is stopped and after the surface of the photoreceptor facing the charging means when stopping the bias voltage application to the charging means reaches the position of a discharging means (6), the operation of a main body of apparatus is stopped by stopping discharging and photoreceptor driving. |
