PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turbo decoding system that considerably reduces the window size by having only to increase a small amount of the used memory resulting in shortening the processing time. SOLUTION: The turbo decoding system is provided with a means that stores a state metric in each state at the end of each window obtained by anαarithmetic operation at a repetition when theαarithmetic operation is conducted earlier then aβarithmetic operation is made as to each window, applies theβarithmetic operation to each window earlier and then applies theαarithmetic operation later to each window in a succeeding repetition, and uses the stored state metric in theαarithmetic operation at the next repetition for an initial value of the state metric in each state at a start point of each window and with a means that conducts the processing reverse to that conducted by the means above when theβarithmetic operation is conducted earlier then theαarithmetic operation is made as to each window.
