PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To patternize a luminescent layer, an electron transport layer and a hole injection transport layer while controlling film thickness in order to provide a method of manufacturing a luminescent display element that can make a full color display. SOLUTION: In this method of manufacturing the luminescent display element, a substrate provided with a first electrode is dipped in an aqueous solution of material forming the luminescent layer with a functional group which can be charged to positive or negative polarity, an electron injection transport layer and the forming material is laminated on the first electrode by migration electrodeposition to form the luminescent layer, electron injection transport layer or hole injection transport layer.
