PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element of high efficiency, applicable to optical communication with the structure containing an organic luminescent material layer formed on a base material. SOLUTION: This light emitting element is provided with the base material 14 having first and second regions; a first opaque electrode 18 formed on the base material in the first region; the organic luminescent material layer 20 which has at least one corrugated planar surface provided on the first opaque electrode in the first region; the organic luminescent material layer 20 which has at least one corrugated planar surface provided on the base material in the second region; a second opaque electrode 22 formed on the luminescent material in the first region; and a mirror 24 formed on the luminescent material in the second region.
