METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DRIVING PICTURE TUBE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method and a driving device capable of reducing doming and also to reduce power consumption as a first purpose and to provide a driving method and a driving device with which a doming-free operation is realized and a geomagnetism-free operation becomes possible as a second purpose. SOLUTION: The reduction of doming and the lowering of power consumption are attained by performing ON/OFF control of an electron beam in synchronization with a mask aperture pattern. Moreover, in a picture tube which has an electron gun having the cathode constituted of a cold cathode element and an indexed phosphor, a doming-free operation is realized by controlling the emission current of the cold cathode based on a signal from the indexed phosphor and a geomagnetism-free operation becomes possible and, thus, a high- quality picture tube is provided.
