PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single-chamber fuel cell having a low internal resistance and emitting a high output. SOLUTION: The single-chamber fuel cell 10 is composed of a base board 12, a first electrode 14 highly active to the oxidation reaction of hydrocarbons formed on the base board 12, a solid oxide electrolyte film 16 of porous nature formed on the first electrode 14, and a second electrode 18 formed on the electrolyte film 16 being low active or inert to the oxidation reaction of hydrocarbons. The electrolyte film 16 has a columnar structure such that columnar crystals 16b have grown in the direction to penetrate the film and should preferably be of porous nature such that voids exist between the columnar crystals 16b. |
