PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network configuration detecting method by which each node being a component of a communication network can automatically detect the layout of the nodes and to provide an automatic generating method for a channel information table by which a sender node and a destination node of each channel are set. SOLUTION: The nodes connected in a ring form transmit a frame, in which an own node identifier is set to a specific address of a node identifier storage area, in one direction, the processing of setting the own node identifier to the frame received from an adjacent node and transmitting the resulting frame again or discarding the received frame is repeated so that each node recognizes the layout of the nodes on the network depending on contents of the storage area of the node identifier in the frame transmitted/received on the network steadily.
