PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a leak current generated when a circuit is turned off. SOLUTION: This shunt regulator has a reference terminal (VR), a cathode terminal (VK) and a ground terminal (GND) and stabilizes the output voltage at the cathode terminal by maintaining the voltage of the reference terminal to a prescribed reference voltage at all times, including a reference voltage deciding part (Q1, Q2, R2, R5 and R6) for deciding a reference voltage, a comparing part (Q8 and Q9) for comparing the reference voltage with the voltage of the reference terminal, and an output transistor (Q12) having a control terminal that operates on the basis of comparison results of the comparing part. The shunt regulator has a leak current reduction circuit (QR) that is connected at least to the control terminal of the output transistor and the ground terminal and reduces a leak current generated when the shunt regulator is turned off.
