PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk unit that is easily made to be thin by efficiently and effectively utilizing the space height under a disk carrying path. SOLUTION: In saving a traverse base from the disk carrying path, an optical head over the traverse base is saved in a moving distance smaller than that of a spindle motor on the traverse base, and the space can thereby be effectively used to able to make the unit to be thin.
