PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety confirmation system at a low cost, which even an elderly person or the like can easily and surely install apparatuses and make connection and settings. SOLUTION: A DTV(digital television) receiver 10 is installed at a home of an object person, and a telephone cord 15 of a main body 11 is connected to a modular jack 2. The object person operates a remote control terminal 12 or a panel operation section 32 to call a setting menu on a display device 21 for the setting of a fault state discrimination condition denoting number of days, when the object person makes no on/off operation of the power supply and channel switching or the like under which a CPU 41 should discriminate that the object person is in a faulty state, and of a telephone number of an emergency contact place or an electronic mail address. The CPU 41 allows a telephone control communication section 35 to transmit an emergency contact signal to the set emergency contact place on a communication network 9 via a telephone line 3.
