PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device consuming less power and having a long service life, and an electric appliance. SOLUTION: A hole transporting area 405 made of a hole transporting material, an electron transporting area 409 made of an electron transporting material, and a mixed area 407 in which the hole transporting material and the electron transporting material are mixed in a certain ratio are provided inside an organic compound film 403. Areas 406 and 408 in which density gradients are formed until the certain ratio is reached are provided between the mixed area 407 and a carrier transporting area 405 or 407. Further, the mixed area 407 is doped with a light emitter 410 to form a light emitting area to thereby eliminate interfaces between the layers, which interfaces exit in conventional stacked structures, while achieving the functions of transporting holes, transporting electrons, and emitting light. Using this technique, an organic light emitting element consuming less power and having a long service life is provided, and the light emitting device and the electric appliance are fabricated using the organic light emitting element.
