APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR INHIBITING SCALE FORMATION ON HOT STRIP IN HOT FINISHING MILL

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for inhibiting scale formation on hot strip in hot finishing mill are provided to inhibiting formation of scale by forming a molten glass coating film on upper and lower surfaces of strip, thereby blocking contact of the strip with air during finish rolling. CONSTITUTION: In finishing mills(11 to 17) for finish rolling a strip (S) or a finishing mill group(10) in which a plural finishing mills are arranged in a row, the apparatus for inhibiting formation of scale in hot finishing mill comprises a scale breaker(31) installed at the inlet side of the finishing mills(11 to 17) or finishing mill group(10) to remove scale on the surface of the strip; a glass covering material sprayer(41) installed at the outlet side of the scale breaker(31) to form a molten glass coating film on the strip by spraying a glass covering material on upper and lower surfaces of the strip; and a molten glass coating film remover(51) installed at the outlet side of the finishing mills(11 to 17) or finishing mill group(10) to remove the molten glass coating film formed on the upper and lower surfaces of the strip by the glass covering material sprayer(41).
