PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp, in which the quantity of mercury utilized is reduce and the fluctuation of its quantity is minimized, and its usage quantity is reduced, thus contributing to environmental protection. SOLUTION: The fluorescent lamp comprises a glass tube 1, having a fluorescent substance layer 2 inside and a glass stem 3, having electrodes 4 sealing the both ends of the glass tube 1. A rare gas is filled in the sealed glass tube 1, and alloy grains 6 containing mercury are provided. The alloy grains 6 are zinc - mercury alloy grains and adhered to the inner wall end part 7 of the glass tube 1. At the contacting part of the alloy grains 6 and the glass tube 1, Si diffusion layer 8 of the glass tube 1 is formed on the alloy grains 6 and zinc - mercury diffusion layer 9 is formed on the glass tube 1, and the glass tube 1 and the alloy grains 6 are mutually adhered firmly by these diffusion layers 8, 9.
