PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of the conventional display having to be operated by a remote control transmitter for external apparatus connected to the display after taking it up, for the connected external apparatus the displaying menu, etc., to operate by itself, thus resulting in troublesome operation. SOLUTION: The display 101 comprises a video display unit 102, a video signal switch 104, a system controller 105, a remote control signal distributor 106, a remote control receiver 107, a tuner 108, a plurality of video input terminals 109 and an external interface(I/F) 110. When a video signal of an external apparatus 121 is selected, the system controller 105 instructs the signal distributor 106 to transmit a specified remote control signal to the external apparatus 121 via the IF 110, so that a remote controller 131 for the display 101 is enabled to operate the menu of the external apparatus 121.
