PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic tape recording and reproducing device which can improve a characteristic in a magnetic tape recording/reproduction mode without damaging the edge of a magnetic tape. SOLUTION: Heaters 15 and 16 for raising the temperatures of fixed guides 3B and 3C are provided in the fixed guides 3B and 3C. First guide rollers 5 and 6 are respectively provided on the upstream side and the downstream side from the fixed guides 3B and 3C. Roller parts 5A and 5B of the first rollers 5 and 6 are provided with heaters 11 and 12 for raising the temperatures of the roller parts 5A and 5B respectively. Second guide rollers 7 and 8 are provided on the upstream side and the downstream side of the first guide rollers 5 and 6 respectively. The roller parts 7A and 8A of the second rollers 7 and 8 are provided with heaters 13 and 14 for raising the temperatures of the roller part 7A and 8B respectively.
