PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit image data to a computer with an easy operation. SOLUTION: A power supply-switching section 52 is provided in a film scanner 10, and a cable 17 conforming to the IEEE 1394 interface standard is connected between the computer 15 and the film scanner 10. When a power switch 24 is off, a CPU 40, a card controller 41, a digital interface circuit 53, and a card slot 16 are operated by bus power supply from the computer 15. When a packet for executing image data transmission is received from the computer 15, image data recorded at a memory card that is fitted to the card slot 16 are transmitted to the computer 15.
