PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer whole of or a portion of an e-mail to a different LAN and also to prevent the retransfer of a transferred e-mail in a LAN having a firewall. SOLUTION: In the LAN 10-1 storing a plurality of pieces of e-mail, when a transmission request for index information is received, the index information is extracted from the plurality of pieces of e-mail to a user who desires transfer and transmitted as index mail to a LAN 10-n. In the LAN 10-n, information that is not requested to be transferred is removed from the index information shown by the index mail, and the index mail is returned to the LAN 10-1 as a transfer request. In the LAN 10-1, e-mail (or part) shown by the index information that the transfer request has is transferred to the LAN 10-n extracted from a mail box.
