PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power line modem and a video monitor system that can simultaneously transmit a plurality of transmission data. SOLUTION: The power line modem 12 at a video transmitter side modulates video data from an imaging unit 11 and generates a transmission signal with a frequency band selected from a plurality of predetermined frequency bands, superimposes the transmission signal onto a power line signal and transmits the resulting signal. The power line modem 16 at a video receiver side, on the other hand, demultiplexes the video signal from the signal received from a power line 14 and demodulates the video signal. Since the system adopts a multi-tone frequency division multiplex system to transmit the video signal from each imaging unit 11 multiplexed on the power signal, the system can simultaneously transmit a plurality of the video signals and a display device 15 can continuously display images.
