A cutting insert (11) for use in a peripheral rotary milling cutter having a cylindrical holder (1) and at least one replaceable, peripherally disposed cutting inserts (11), the cutting insert (11) being formed with at least one cutting edge (12) defined between a cutting rake surface (15) and a relief flank surface (14) of the insert. The cutting rake and relief flank surfaces are continuously curved so that the insert rake ( beta ) and relief angles ( gamma ) as defined with respect to the cylindrical holder remain substantially invariant along the length of the cutting edge. |
