The method involves converting the water in the hydraulic fluid into a gaseous state by electrolytic dissociation. A circuit (12) is made by ions formed in the hydraulic fluid by the water contained within it. The on-board voltage of the motor vehicle is used as the voltage source for the electrolysis. An Independent claim is also included for a device for removing water from hydraulic fluid in hydraulic system (1) of motor vehicles.
