Method in which a motor vehicle based service user (A) accesses the traffic information service server (SERV) via a communications network (KN). The user provides details of a tour he wishes to make within a given area. The server communicates with the terminal devices (TE1, TE2) of the users to obtain localization data from them and then provides relevant data, particularly traffic data, according to current location and intended tour or route to be taken. An Independent claim is made for service server for providing information to end users based on their current location and intended route.
