The method involves using the same parameters for virtual traffic for all traffic flows when computing the outgoing traffic flows from a node for known or assumed incoming traffic flows using virtual traffic defined so that the traffic flow of a real link is carried virtually over a link with unlimited capacity and its statistical parameters are defined. Independent claims are also included for the following: a data processing system, a computer program product for implementing the method and a data medium with a computer program.
