Growing vines, involving soil preparation by conventional means and a hole dug in preparation for planting the new vine, and the hole is back-filled around the roots with a mixture of soil and a super moisture-absorbing agent (a granular product e.g. acrylic acid derivates and their copolymers, which may be introduced in the course of ploughing, as granules or in aqueous suspension by lance) in the ratio of about 1 to10kg per cubic meter of earth, is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a process to produce wine using grapes grown in a mixture of soil and the super-absorbing agent; and (2) a process for water growing vines in areas with low annual rainfall (400 mm). |
