Use of thermography to detect defects in the heat conductors used in composite aircraft parts for de-icing purposes and so provide early detection of safety-critical faults

Method employs a known thermography method with a heat source (2), high resolution heat imaging camera (3), a computer (4) and a monitor (5) for finishing, quality and functional control of the heat conductor paths (6) embedded in the composite materials (1). The same arrangement can also be used for determining the position of heating paths, especially for repair of corrosion damage, path breakages and defection connection points.
