LIGHT COLLECTING UNIT OF LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY

PURPOSE: A light collecting unit of a liquid crystal display is provided to improve the brightness by reusing light that travels to a direction out of a viewing zone. CONSTITUTION: A first layer(31) is provided on a side of a light collecting unit(30) to which light is incident. The first layer(31) is a lenticular lens having a central angle of 'a' and a pitch of 'p'. A facet(34) to which light is incident has an inverted triangle shape and a facet(35) to which light is outputted has a flat shape. A second layer(33) is made of a material identical to that of the first layer(31). The second layer(33) has a structure identical to that of the first layer(31). A medium layer(32) has to be interposed between the first and second layers(31,33) and is made of a substance having a low refractive index such as air. The first and second layers(31,33) are formed on a substrate.
