<p>A method is described for managing a supply of a critical supply item in an agribusiness operation. A strategic agribusiness plan is automatically analyzed to identify critical supply items (402) required for operation of the agribusiness operation. A determination is made by comparison of an existing inventory level of the critical supply item (404) to the expected consumption date for each critical supply item derived from the strategic agribusiness plan - of an exhaustion date (406) for the critical supply item.
