The exhaust gas recirculation system has an exhaust gas recirculation heat-exchanger (1) with an exhaust gas feeder (2) openng and an exhaust gas discharge (3) opening, a coolant feeder (4) and dsicharge (5) opening arranged on an assembly plane (11) and share a sealing element (6) in the form of a flat seal. The heat exchanger is fixed directly on the machine housinng of the internaal cobustion engine.
