The use of creatine compounds (I) in hair treatment or post-treatment compositions (A) for preventing damage caused by chemical treatments and repairing already damaged hair is new. The use of creatine and/or its derivatives is claimed in hair treatment or post-treatment compositions (A) for preventing damage caused by chemical treatments and repairing already damaged hair, where the active agents are one or more of compounds of formula (I) and their salts and/or hydrates. R1 = H; or alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or carboxyalkyl of 2-30C; R2 = OR4 and R'2 = H; or R2 + R'2 = direct bond; R3, R4 = H; or optionally branched 1-30C hydrocarbyl (optionally containing double bonds). An Independent claim is included for the compositions (A), comprising (I) (or their salts and/or hydrates), together with conventional auxiliaries and/or additives.
