A system for connecting a concrete reinforcing bar (1) to a coupler (6), comprising a concrete reinforcing bar (1) which is provided with external screw thread (3) at its end, and a coupler provided with an internally threaded hole (7), which can be screwed onto the end of said concrete reinforcing bar (1), wherein the reinforcing bar (1) and the wall of said hole are provided with friction portions (5,8), which can slide one over another when the connection is being made, wherein the diameter of the friction portion (5) of the reinforcing bar (1) in unconnected condition is slightly larger than the corresponding diameter of the friction portion (8) of the hole, such that the reinforcing bar (1) must be screwed into the coupler (6) with at least a predetermined moment under deformation of at least one of said friction portions(5,8), as a result of which a fixed moment connection is obtained.
