1,180,069. Sand-lime bricks. YTONG INTERNATIONAL A.B. 12 Sept., 1967 [15 Sept., 1966], No. 40702/67. Heading C1H. Sand-lime bricks are produced by forming a mixture of a calcareous binder and a granular filler containing coarse grains having a max. diameter greater than 1 mm., adding water and forming and steam-hardening bricks from the mixture, the binder being such that after steamhardening, the generated junction material, cementing the coarse grains together, has a resistance to fracture at least equal to and preferably exceeding that of the coarse filler grains. In an example, 15 tons of crushed lingulid sandstone was mixed with 1À15 tons of lime, water added in amount 5% by wt. of the dry mixture, and the plastic mass shaped at a pressure of 370 kp/cm.<2> The bricks were steamcured at 16 kp/cm.<2> and 300‹ C., and when split the coarse filler grains divided as well as the binder, to produce an improved texture to the cut surface.
|
