A method for preparing a reinforced platinum material wherein a platinum alloy powder prepared by spraying a melt of the alloy is subjected to an oxidation treatment, the resultant powder is mixed with an organic solvent and subjected to a wet fine pulverization treatment, followed by a sintering treatment and a forging treatment, characterized in that the fine platinum alloy powder after the wet fine pulverization treatment is charged in a heat-resistant container and heated to 1200 to 1400 DEG C under vacuum, to thereby subject it to a degassing treatment. A reinforced platinum material prepared by the method is free from the occurrence of swelling on the surface of the material even when subjected to a heat treatment at 1400 DEG C or higher, contains a metal oxide such as zirconium oxide finely dispersed therein, and is markedly excellent in high temperature creep characteristics. |
