An installation to handle sewing thread in hypercritical fluid has at least two autoclaves. They are connected by a pipe, so that fluid can be pumped from one autoclave to another. There are two pumps employed, dependent upon the density of the fluid to give an optimum flow. Typically, the installation may be from two to eight autoclaves (2,3), which are alike. They can support a pillar and frame (17,18) to hold the reels of thread (16). The minimum two autoclaves are connected by the pipework (4) with pumps (5,6) in sequence, so that one supplements the other by accepting different densities of gas. There is also an expansion network (7,8,9) with associated valves. ADVANTAGE - There is very little loss of processing fluid. Toxic material is not exhausted into the environment. Maximum performance is attained by having pumps of varied capability to transfer fluid into or out of the autoclaves. |
