PURPOSE: A credit card inquiring device and a method for preparing an account book are provided to transmit sale data approved from a credit card company to a specific computer system in charge of an account management automatically. CONSTITUTION: If a credit card possessor suggests a credit card for paying a cost of a commodity purchase or a service, a businessman reads the corresponding credit card number through a card reader unit of a credit card inquiring device(S11). The businessman inputs a paying amount of money through a key input unit of the credit card inquiring device(S12). The credit card inquiring device is connected to a credit card company system through a public switched telephone network or a value-added network(S13). Approval requesting information such as the card number and a paying amount of money is transmitted to the credit card company system through a modem unit, and the credit card company system judges as to an approval of the transaction(S14). If the approval is possible, the credit card company system embodies a payment possible signal and an approval number to the credit card inquiring device(S15,S17). If an approval number is embodied, a sale data storing unit extracts a sale date and selling amount data and stores the information in a sale data storing unit of a memory unit(S18). A printer of the credit card inquiring device prints transaction information including an approval number as a receipt and a slip format(S19).
