<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electrophotographic device which has substantially no ghost, can obtain sufficient electrostatic charging performance, and has its resolution improved to obtain higher picture quality. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic device uses an a-Si photosensitive body and is characterized by that an electric field applied to a photosensitive body when it is exposed to an image forming light beam is >=150 kV/cm and the wavelength of the image forming light beam is <=500 nm. Preferably, the image forming light beam is laser light and exposure is so carried out that the laser light does not impinge orthogonally on the photosensitive body surface; and the device has a developing means which is provided independently of an electrostatic charging means and in the electrostatic charging means, the photosensitive body is exposed to the image forming light beam. The optical band gap Eg of the photoconductive layer of the photosensitive body is <=2.0 eV, and Eg of the layer most on the surface side is preferably >=1.83 eV when the photosensitive body is formed of a plurality of layers and >=2.3 eV when the photosensitive body has a surface layer.</p> |
