PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve display by using a dynamic mechanism generating a dipole in a display device using a twist ball. SOLUTION: The twist ball display device has a light translucent supporting body 4 having anisotropic particles 1 in a large number of cavities 5 full of a dielectrics liquid and a pair of parallel electric conductors 6, 7 at least one of which is light translucent. A wall of the cavity 5 has dielectric constant higher than that of the dielectrics liquid, each anisotropic particle 1 has plural parts of contrastive optical appearance and electrical conductivity, one of the parts has anisotropy inducing dipole moment, ionizable charge director material contained in the dielectrics liquid forms mobile ions having charge of opposite polarity under a state where electric field is applied between electric conductors, the mobile ions move toward the cavity wall adjacent to the electric conductor of opposite polarity in the dielectrics liquid, the mobile ions induce the dipole moment and rotate the particle so that one part of the particle faces the electric conductor of opposite polarity every time when polarity is replaced between the electric conductors.
