PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an observation method changeover device for a microscope which is simple in a changeover operation of an observation method and can maintain a stable light quantity balance in the changeover of various kinds of the observation methods. SOLUTION: This observation changeover device for the microscope has a bright-field illumination optical system 3 and a darkfield illumination optical system 6 and changes over a bright-field observation and a dark-field observation by selectively inserting and removing these optical systems onto and from the intersection point of an illumination optical axis n and an observation optical axis m. A beam-attenuation member 10 inserted and removed into and from the illumination optical axis n cooperatively with the insertion and removal onto and from the intersected point of the illumination optical axis n and observation optical axis m of the bright-field illumination optical system 3 is inserted and removed to and from the illumination optical axis n cooperatively with a polarizer 8 and analyzer 9 inserted and removed to and from the illumination optical axis and observation optical axis described above for polarization or differential interference observation.
